Garden Party

Our local Lioness had a Garden Luncheon today and it was a lot of fun. They had a demonstration by a lady from a local garden centre who showed us some new annuals for this year. She was an excellent speaker and it was very enjoyable. Afterwards she sold the plants and I bought a pot called Trixi which means 3 plants in one pot. Mine was called Blueberry Parfait and contains Bacopa Big Pearl Falls, Calibrachoa MiniFamous Lavender Blue and Verbena Lascar Light pink. I am keeping it indoors at night as they are calling for -5°C tonight.

Special Find

While going through a huge pile of old cookbooks and magazines I came across a special treasure. A cookbook made by my daughter when she was in grade one in 1973. Isn't the spelling wonderful! I quickly gathered together a collection to add to it. A 1944 edition of Canadian Cook Book by Nellie Lyle Pattinson, with recipes tucked inside it an old pastry blender, a recipe card  with an icing recipe on the back, a lid from baby food and some children's play dishes and serving spoon.

Door Knobs

 I saw a post atMy Salvaged Treasures

 It inspired me to re-arrange my door knobs even if they are not as fancy and as nice as hers. I started with an old caldron and added a crochet doily.

Shirt Pillow

This is what I did last night while watching TV. It is made from a shirt my husband bought on our trip to see our daughter while her husband was on loan to the US air force in Alaska. That was about 15 years ago. The collar was frayed but the fabric still had some life in it.  I never have any luck with a sewing machine so do everything by hand.

Cardinals

Look who came to visit us today a pair of Cardinals!  Sorry for the blurry pictures but they were taken through the screen door. I do hope they are nesting near by.

Snow

They are calling for snow overnight tonight so I brought my pansies inside and quickly spread them around the house.
